The Sr. Reporter, Distressed Debt is responsible for covering, in real-time and in-depth, developing deal and trend stories impacting distressed and defaulted segment of the leveraged finance asset class, with special emphasis on leveraged loans and high yield bonds. This role will use their knowledge of the debt markets and ability to develop and maintain market sources to generate compelling content for our audience.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

\n\nGenerate detailed news stories, on daily basis, illuminating the distressed/restructuring space in the US leveraged finance markets, with an emphasis on debt issuers facing or entering the restructuring process, and how those companies go about managing this process (liability management exercises, payment defaults)\nGenerate, over the longer-term, trend-based stories on the distressed/restructuring market space, illustrating the potential direction of the overall market\nHelp formulate, with LCD Managing Editors and Editor-in-Chief, the scope and focus of LCD’s restructuring/distressed debt coverage and coverage strategy\nGenerate detailed news stories, as market activity dictates, on asset classes and topics related to distressed restructuring space/LCD’s core markets (ie, CLO/CLO secondary markets, etc.)\nBuild and maintain a network of market sources covering all aspects of the leveraged debt restructuring market, including deal advisers, investors, lawyers, traders\nWork collaboratively with the LCD editorial team to provide market insight on the broader leveraged debt markets (new issues, trading levels and activity, etc.)\nSupport the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors\nParticipate in various company initiatives and projects as requested\n\n

Skills and Qualifications:

\n\nBachelors’ degree preferred\n4+ years’ experience reporting on and/or analyzing the debt markets, as described above, or related experience\nExceptional attention to detail with ability to work with data-intensive content\nAbility to generate accurate and relevant news copy and content on a daily basis\nExcellent communication skills\nAbility to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced/real-time news environment\nAbility to work effectively as part of highly productive team\nProficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily\n\n

Compensation

\n\nAnnual base salary: $115,000-$130,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 10%\n\n

 

\n

*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location. 

\n

 

\n

Working Conditions:

\n

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 4 days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

\n

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
