Job Title: Sr. Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Sr. Quality Control (QC) Technician serves as a pivotal leader within our contract job shop environment, specializing in sheet metal fabrication. This Sr. role is responsible for meticulous inspection and documentation, including oversight of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report) requirements. The position drives a culture of continuous improvement across quality systems and production processes, encouraging open communication and collaboration to identify inefficiencies and recommend actionable improvements.

ResponsibilitiesLead and perform the preparation, review, and submission of PPAP and ISIR documentation for contract sheet metal jobs, ensuring all deliverables exceed customer and regulatory requirements.Audit welds and fabricated parts, validating adherence to specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.Mentor and train junior QC personnel, fostering a team oriented toward continuous learning and process excellence.Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.Act as a change agent by proactively proposing, communicating, and helping implement new or improved quality procedures; encourage others to voice insights, observations, and concerns to enhance workflow and product quality.Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes, especially as they relate to PPAP/ISIR non-conformances or customer feedback.Represent QC in cross-functional teams, bringing a solutions-oriented approach to meetings with production, engineering, and management.Support customer and third-party audits, ensuring all quality documentation, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams, is accurate and up to date.Maintain and improve systems for documentation, traceability, and reporting in compliance with ISO standards and specific contract customer requirements.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical degree or relevant certifications in quality/manufacturing preferred.Minimum 5 years' experience in an ISO-certified contract job shop, with advanced expertise in sheet metal fabrication and quality systems.Extensive working knowledge of PPAP and ISIR processes, including documentation, review, and direct interaction with contract customers.Proficiency with advanced inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs), and a strong command of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.Demonstrated experience in leading quality improvement programs and successfully implementing process changes.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to mentor and influence cross-functional teams.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about driving positive change for organizational success.Additional Skills & QualificationsTechnical degree or relevant certifications in quality/manufacturing are preferred.Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control documentation systems.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
