Sr. Property Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our client's team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role involves managing monthly accounting and reporting for a diverse portfolio of properties, requiring strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Responsibilities: • Manage the monthly accounting cycle, including preparing and analyzing financial statements for assigned properties. • Perform general ledger maintenance, ensuring accuracy in journal entries and reconciliations. • Conduct month-end close processes, including reviewing trial balances and making necessary adjustments. • Prepare detailed financial reports for clients and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with reporting standards. • Utilize accounting software to manage property portfolios and generate accurate financial data. • Collaborate with property management teams to ensure financial accuracy and address any discrepancies. • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with internal controls. • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for assigned properties. • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend improvements. • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. Requirements • Minimum of 4 years of experience in general ledger accounting, including debits and credits. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience. • Strong knowledge of property accounting and month-end close processes. • Proficiency in preparing financial statements and reports. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas and data analysis tools. • Familiarity with property management accounting software is a plus. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
