What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior IT Project Manager in the Strategic Planning and Portfolio Delivery team, you’ll provide guidance to others and manage a portfolio of end-to-end projects. You’ll lead teams of stakeholders and business partners to ensure projects of all sizes are completed in line with the team’s budget, scope and timeline. You’ll use your expertise in project management methodology to make recommendations for continuous improvements on all project plans and phases of delivery. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management, and working in a matrix environment, you’ll be responsible for working with peers on the various projects to support the successful delivery of enterprise initiatives. The team is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of program governance controls and processes.  These controls and processes are aligned with the larger CIBC Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) and other enterprise-wide CIBC program delivery policies and standards. You will support the day to day activities of the team, ensuring that program governance processes are effectively managed and practices are adhered to across the program.

How You’ll Succeed

Project Management – Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs. Help create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project. Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team, and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan.

Collaboration – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services. Coach and mentor your teams as you work toward a common goal and negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.

Project Delivery – Proactively identify anything that will take projects off schedule and find solutions to correct the problem. Monitor milestones, and ensure they’re completed according to  timelines and budgets. Execute a project plan that is personalized for your team’s preferred mix of budget, time, and risk.

Project Governance – Proactively maintaining and uploading your project artefacts, such as the project schedule, RAAIDD Log, status reports, meeting minutes, etc., as per SPPD’s Delivery Guide, into the project repository on an ongoing basis.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate 8+ years of experience in IT Project Management, ideally within the banking sector or financial industry. It is an asset if you have experience managing Mainframe Infrastructure projects.

You have experience with end-to-end project lifecycles, people change management, infrastructure management including planning and execution.

You have experience with waterfall and agile methodologies as well as experience with project management tools such as MS Projects, ServiceNow and JIRA.

You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. It’s an asset if you have your PMP designation.
