Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Software Engineer to support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. The location for this role is in Dulles, VA.

To b successful, you should enjoy learning, be motivated by the opportunity to solve hard problems with challenging boundary conditions, work well with a motivated and mission-focused team, enjoy working with both speed and accuracy, and take great pride in your work and the work of the team(s).  You should have demonstrated experience in technical problem solving including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring. Software Engineers will be a critical member of one or more Agile Scrum Teams. After hours or extended workweek may be required.

What You’ll Have an Opportunity to Do:

Development of mission unique software layer services and applications.Applications will span languages and toolsets including bash, Python, C++, Postgres SQL, and STOL.Use static code analysis to identify shortfalls and plan remediation activities.Developer will be expected to be a self-starter capable of taking initiative, making decisions with overall project budget and schedule in mind, and investigating/trouble-shooting software issues.Developer will be expected to convert legacy python apps from python version 2 to 3.6 and re-architect where appropriate.Developer will be expected to provide level of effort (LOE) estimates for identified activities and remediation efforts.Developer will be expected to have strong communications skills to work with multi disciplined engineers to define as built legacy applications as well as define desired to be applications.

This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4.

Basic Qualifications

Principal Engineer:

Bachelor’s Degree (software engineering, Computer Science, or closely related discipline preferred) plus 5 years of development experience (3 years with a Master’s Degree or 1 year [excluding internships, research, etc.] with a PhD). Experience can be considered in lieu of degreeFamiliarity with Agile programsExperience with the design, build, and deployment of software productsExperience in producing software documentationExperience with Python application programmingStrong unix skillsExisting DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility & ability to be approved for SAP at time of application

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
