We have an opening for a Deputy/Lead DevOps Lead Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be in Dulles VA and requires a TS clearance to start.  This work will be performed in a SCIF environment, so onsite work is required.

Job Responsibilities

In this role you will:

Automate cloud native technologies, deploy applications, and provision critical infrastructureWork with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technologyWork within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem to configure and deploy optimized infrastructureEnsure monitoring and health of the resources deployed via Nagios or other enterprise management solutionsDocument procedures used during deployment cyclesExperience with operational monitoring toolsWork with the fellow DevOps team and play a mentoring role to cross-train and grow technical talent across DevOps team and assist in troubleshooting tasksImplement clean and maintainable infrastructure-as-code that adheres to industry best practices, terraform

To be successful in this role you should have:

Excel in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and quick deadlinesStrong troubleshooting skills and readiness to tackle unfamiliar challenges5+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, and AnsibleOver 5 years of experience with Linux tools/automation, shell scripting, and Python programming2+ years of AWS experience3+ years of managing OpenStack environments5+ years of experience with Docker containerization; Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration preferredExtensive experience (5+ years) with continuous integration/deployment tools like Jenkins or GitLabProven ability (5+ years) to create, execute, and troubleshoot complex automated processes for server configuration and code deploymentDemonstrated leadership in DevOps projects

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (ideally Computer Science or Engineering) and 8 years of experience; OR a master’s degree and 6 years: OR a PhD and 4 years. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree.5+ years of DevOps or software development experience (general IT experience alone not sufficient)5+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives and Jira metrics reportingWe may consider adjacent technologies: AWS, Ansible, Kubernetes (K8S), Oracle Cloud, OpenShiftU.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top-Secret clearance at time of application

Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
