Responsibilities

Creating and maintaining high performance, scalable, and stable data architecturesResearch new database methods and technologies to fully utilize platform featuresCollaborating with internal customers, development teams, and product management to identify and document use case scenariosLead on all data solution aspects including solving complex problems, setting data standards and providing technical expertise to development teams for best practices, systems, and architectureHandles the most complex IT data architecture projects involving multiple disciplines or ambiguous IT architecture issues. Coordinates with users to determine requirementsProvides comprehensive consultation, training and guidance to business unit, less experienced staff, and IT systems architectureDesign data architectures and solutions that are available and scalableDesign effective data store solutions that account for effective capacity planning, data tiering, and data life-cycle managementDesign automated data ingestion procedures for on-premises and cloud data sourcesEnsure the successful delivery of solutions, training, and documentation to internal data teamRecommend solutions to improve new and existing data storage and analytic systemsParticipate in code reviews and create documentation for engineering and cross-functional practices

Qualifications

Specialized knowledge of data architecture, excellent consultative skills, strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively with clients, management and team members.Demonstrated experiences in architecture of enterprise level data solutionsBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer or data program or related experience15+ years relational database design experiences including Azure, SQL Server, and Oracle5-10 years experience with cloud data services (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake)Experience with Data Mesh and data platform modernization a plusLarge scale data warehouse design experience10+ years ETL experienceShell scripting, python experienceExperience with Data Lake architectures is a plusExperiences in migrating traditional database to cloud platformsExperiences with Predictive Analytics a plusProject management experience a plusExperience in team management, communication, and presentation.Experience with Azure (ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Databricks)Understand Data Governance as well as experience with Collibra and/or other data governance tools

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 240,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
