Sr. Pre-Encounter Representative II - Access Center_QHS (Full-Time, Day Shift, 40 Hours)

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides work leadership and guidance to the Pre-Encounter Representatives in the following areas, as assigned: Pre-registration, Insurance Verification, Authorizations, Specialty Scheduling and/or Primary Care Provider (PCP) scheduling.
• Monitors work queues and assigns and coordinates work assignments to ensure optimal workflow and operational efficiencies.
• Provides administrative support to management, including assisting with on-call rotations as needed.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs, pushing/pulling usual weight of 15 to 20 pounds, reaching at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions and gripping of an object.
• Occasional: kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, reaching above shoulder level.
• Operates various office equipment such as computers, copiers, facsimiles, telephone, typewriter, pneumatic tube system, credit card swipe.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Work pace varies and is frequently stressful.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• Certification by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years patient access experience in a hospital or physician office setting.
• Prior supervisory experience and/or demonstrated knowledge and ability to lead staff.
• Ability and skill in conducting training.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of different payor types (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, HMO, Workers’ Compensation, Capitation, TPL, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of third party reimbursement and Hawaii regulatory requirements related to reimbursement.
• Proficient understanding of medical terminology.
• Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and automated systems.
