When we do everything in service for our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored, and Akron General understands that part of staying well is keeping up with nutritional needs. As a Senior Porter, you will requisition, store, receive, inventory and distribute food and supplies.
A caregiver in this position works days, 6:00am—2:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Stock, receive, date, make and store products while following proper storage techniques, checking specifications on quality, quantity and price, invoicing, pulling meat and assisting in inventory and ordering.
Ensure proper storage techniques and principles are followed by staff and others.
Report equipment, personnel, safety, supply, possible theft, assignment, recipe or quality/quantity discrepancies to a supervisor.
Follow proper sanitation procedures, practice the “clean as you go” policy, and maintain a clean, sanitized and organized work area.
Clean work, storage and receiving areas including walls, shelves, refrigerators, freezers and sinks.
Sweep and mop floors, remove trash and keep delivery areas and hallways free of safety hazards.
Operate pallet carrier lift.
Perform Porter duties: request, receive, check and store supplies, dispense unit orders to the main kitchen and keep proper personnel up to date about the condition of supplies.
Follow safety rules, regulations and procedures, utilizing provided safety equipment and following directions/procedures on use of chemicals.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school graduate or GED
One year of experience as a Porter
Understanding of orders and invoices
Knowledge of simple mathematics to ensure extensions of invoices and supply levels are correct
Ability to operate a pallet life and box cutter
