We are looking for a Sr. OSIH Specialist I to join our Geismar EHS team in Geismar – North.

As a Sr. OSIH Specialist I, you will serve as a key technical resource in occupational safety and industrial hygiene, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement across site operations. You’ll collaborate with leadership, employees, and the EHS community to implement standardized safety processes, support emergency response, and enhance performance through data-driven insights and proactive field engagement.
**As a Sr. OSIH Specialist I, you create chemistry by...**
+ Serving as a technical authority on OSHA and ACGIH standards, providing regulatory guidance and ensuring compliance across assigned operating areas. This includes maintaining and monitoring safety and industrial hygiene programs, records, and reports to optimize effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Implementing and managing standardized Safety and Industrial Hygiene processes, including the administration of electronic systems such as Incident Management, Action Tracker, and Change Management. Ensuring periodic maintenance and documentation of safety equipment and supporting emergency response activities through drill development and annual training coordination.
+ Facilitating knowledge sharing within the EHS community by promoting successful practices, tools, and procedures. Building strong working relationships with site leadership, employees, and contractors to foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety and industrial hygiene performance.
+ Providing daily field presence and support, including during outages and turnaround activities. Conducting field safety audits, coordinating and tracking cluster audit programs, and managing the compliance assurance process for assigned units.
+ Supporting behavioral safety initiatives by working independently and with management to train and engage employees and contractors in the Behavioral Based Safety Process. Assisting in accident and incident investigations to identify root causes and develop effective corrective actions.
+ Contributing to industrial hygiene efforts by supporting exposure assessments, radiation safety (within authorized limits), and risk mitigation for regulated substances such as lead and asbestos. Maintaining unit-specific PPE grids and SDS availability, leading new chemical reviews, and supporting ergonomic assessments.
**If you...**
+ Hold a bachelor's in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
+ Possess 5+ years of experience in similar roles.
+ Are proficient in data analysis and have the ability to leverage data for continuous improvement.
+ Have knowledge of IT tools (e.g. Microsoft package, Power BI, Azure), as well as intermediate knowledge in safety management systems.
+ Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, as well as advanced service mindset, customer focus and collaboration skills.
