Sr. Mechanical Engineer, HV Battery
Lucid Motors
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will help support state-of-the-art electric vehicle battery systems through design improvements & cost optimization initiatives, root cause corrective action, sustaining activities, as well as proposing new design concepts to evolve the design into its next generation. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination.
Role:
Design Ownership: Lead the design optimization of existing core HV Battery components, such as the Battery Module, from initial concept through production. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cell & modeling engineers, battery systems, power electronics engineers, manufacturing, quality and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, thermal and electrical systems. Prototyping & Testing: Design prototypes, create 3D CAD models, and develop test plans to validate designs. Drive changes based on test results and real-world feedback. Leadership: Interface internally and with external OEMs as the design lead for diverse HV Battery components.
Qualifications:
Experience: 4+ years of experience as a major contributor in a fast-paced engineering environment. Engineering Fundamentals: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including structural, thermal, and mechatronic design. CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in 3D CAD (e.g., CATIA, 3DX, or similar) and familiarity with GD&T principles. Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, die casting, and more. Dimensional Understanding: Strong knowledge of GD&T and Creepage & Clearance principles. Problem-Solving: Experience with root cause analysis methods (e.g., 8D, FMEA) and ability to apply them to complex technical challenges. Hands-On Experience: Proficiency with prototyping and shop tools to develop and validate designs.
Preferred:
Battery Design: 3+ years experience in designing HV Battery components. Automotive Engineering: Familiarity with automotive engineering & product validation processes (environmental testing, shock/drop testing, etc.). Electronics Integration: Experience integrating mechanical designs with high-voltage electrical systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automotive, or other related fields. Master's preferred.
