**About this job**
The Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement will manage suppliers and roll out programs that will deliver the products and services required for all CarMax effective and efficient operations throughout the organization. This role will focus on supporting our Merchandising, Auctions, and Supply Teams. The Senior Manager will work with the various Category leaders, other departments throughout the Home Office, and Stores’ leadership to develop and track success metrics for each program roll-out. This leader will execute day-to-day operations needed to support CarMax departments and stores while seeking continuous process improvements. In addition, this person will work hand in hand with the various Category Directors to identify cost saving and process improvements, and work with supplier partners to fine-tune and deliver improvements on a continuous basis.
This individual will lead associate(s) to be able to identify, manage, and develop new cost savings within areas of responsibility. The Senior Manager will manage team responsibilities independently, establishing direction and prioritizing efforts in leading a team of associates to execute on the department’s mission.
The Senior Manager will collect feedback from CarMax organizational departments and stores, collaborate with suppliers, and guide business teams through supplier evaluations, selection, and execution. The Senior Manager will develop and track KPIs and manage the suppliers/relationships for critical CarMax programs.
**What you will do – Essential Responsibilities**
+ Lead a functional team responsible for completion of procurement activities which may include: ordering, escalation of service needs, supplier management, sourcing events, and/or analytics. Ensure all responsibilities are completed, timely, accurately, and in accordance with corporate policies.
+ Create, implement and manage various programs to deliver optimum results for CarMax
+ Track market factors and prepare the stakeholders for external market factors that could impact cost and introduce risk; and ensure CarMax has back-up / alternatives for each program to mitigate risk.
+ Investigate and recommend service and product changes that will deliver cost savings but not impact program quality, associates, or customers.
+ Work to identify non-price value opportunities and improvements while maintaining or improving product quality and supplier service levels.
+ Lead contract negotiations, and design and implement roll-out strategies.
+ Develop communication plan using change management, implementation plan, and tracking plans for each program.
+ Recommend technology changes needed to maximize program delivery; develop business case to justify technology investments
+ Manage category partners, and aggressively seek opportunities for efficiency, cost, and value improvements.
+ Conduct periodic reviews of vendor performance and establish goals for all metrics supporting each program, including qualitative elements and cost reductions.
+ Independently resolve supplier performance issues and collaborate with business teams to identify improvements and articulate performance needs.
+ Execute sourcing strategies to improve each program, drive overall sourcing process for each program.
+ Conduct market intelligence and research and create rigorous RFP processes.
+ Lead end-to-end cross-functional supplier evaluations for each program and incorporate business needs and develop thorough business requirements.
+ Identify, develop and communicate program-specific metrics and program process improvements through collaboration with all stakeholders.
+ Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for programs to leverage spend, maximize savings.
+ Develop reports to enable the effective and efficient management of programs, and any corresponding changes.
+ Collaborate with business partners (including field personnel) to drive compliance, curtail demand where needed, and assist in ensuring savings flow through to the P&L.
+ Identify opportunities for internal process improvements related to each program, and work to continuously improve all related processes (which will frequently require cooperation from key stakeholders outside of SS&P).
**Qualifications and Requirements**
+ Ability to motivate and influence across multiple levels of the organization and outside organizations, and willing to challenge upwards appropriately in the best interest of CarMax.
+ Proven Procurement and Program Management experience.
+ Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner through verbal and written methods
+ Act with confidence in the face of unclear or challenging conditions; rapidly adapt to change or unexpected obstacles
+ Ability to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization, and collaborate with other departments and teams
+ Ability to provide timely solutions to current or potential business issues
+ Provide “win-win” solutions while resolving customer service issues in a positive and professional manner
+ Experience with lean/process improvement and process mapping.
+ Knowledge of agreements; understanding of key contracting provisions and requirements.
+ Flexible and comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
+ 8+ years of relevant work experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, procurement
+ Project or program management.
+ Four-year undergraduate degree
+ Proven project / program management skills required
+ Change management experience helpful
**Work Location and Arrangement:** This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement
