Job Description

As a Sr. Manager, Payroll Tax you will monitor, reconcile and manage the overall tax compliance in a multi-state and multi-entity environment on a pay period basis. Serve as a subject matter expert on tax filings, reporting, and reconciliation of payroll taxes with third-party tax vendor and applicable agencies. Lead quarter-end and year-end tax reporting processes and preparation, including but not limited to W-2s. Follow country trends, changes in legislation/regulation, updates to tax rules such as tax equalization, and local payroll control procedures to make recommendations for changes, improvements, or new technologies. Responsible for the reconciliation of payroll and tax accounts to general ledgers with extensive collaboration from Finance/Accounting teams. Maintain payroll-related tax accounts within the third-party tax vendor environment. Prepares various accounting reconciliations, schedules, exhibits, and summaries. Collaborates with Finance on the need for new accounts and revisions in the account structure. Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll tax-related data and prepare materials for internal and external auditors. FPC or CPP designation is preferred.

Reconcile payroll after each pay periodManage all statutory tax correspondenceLead, manage and mentor a team, setting strategy and achieving departmental goalsDevelop and Implement processes to improve operational efficiencyReview and monitor tax filings along with associated noticesCollaborate with Finance on changes affecting payroll tax accruals and resolving related issuesCollaborate with Payroll Specialists and HRIS on creation and maintenance of tax related reporting within WorkdayCreation and maintenance of specialized tax reports and forms within third-party tax vendor softwareReconciliation of payroll taxes, cash activity, and third-party tax vendor reportsCollaborate with Finance in the preparation of payroll tax related journal entriesReview tax filings, including but not limited to 941s and W-2sLead all special projects and research related to payroll tax complianceManage relationship with third-party tax vendorManage payroll tax exceptions and issues with Payroll Managers and third-party tax vendorGather and report requested payroll related data to internal and external customersAudit employee work and residential addresses to ensure appropriate tax withholdings

Candidate Profile:

5 to 7 years of experience with payroll, payroll tax and compliance matters; Bachelor’s Degree in related field from four-year college or university preferred2+ years of experience leading teams and managing projectsStrong reconciliation skills, detail oriented, proficient in excelWorkday experience requiredADP SmartCompliance experience preferredMust be able to create and reconcile spreadsheets for payroll and tax related dataExperience preparing periodic tax forms and tax filingsMust be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, co-workers, and external vendors and government agencies; demonstrated ability to effectively present information to internal and external partnersDemonstrated ability to lead team in organizing and prioritizing projects in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented business environment

The base salary range for this position is $95k - $112k, plus incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on work location, qualifications, skills, education, experience, and competencies.
