We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr. Manager, Legal & Compliance-GEM Latin America supporting the Legal Team, in Panama, a typical day will include:
Partnering closely with the local leadership team and colleagues
Proactively providing, solution-oriented legal and strategic advice to the local business
Drafting and negotiating contracts (e. g. distributor agreements etc.) with distributors and suppliers
Corporate housekeeping, competition law and litigation
Establish, promote and reinforce compliance standards, aligned with local laws and regulations and company-wide compliance policies
Provide compliance advice, investigates complaints and verify deficiencies are corrected
Develop employee communication and training programs for a companywide compliance program
Maintaining current knowledge of laws for financial, advertising and marketing reporting, regulations, and industry guidance that impact the company's compliance program

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

Preferred Experience:
Education: University degree in Law, admission to the bar as a fully qualified lawyer (ideally under Panamanian or Costa Rican law)
Experience in legal practice (7 years) - preferably significant experience in legal practice related to the pharmaceutical or medical device/technology industry
Proven ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal support to stakeholders across a functionally and geographically dispersed organization
Native Spanish is a must; excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional language skills can be a plus
Speak-up culture, persuasive negotiator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Solid understanding of the medical device industry and customer needs
Strong leadership skills and the willingness to travel abroad
Ability to represent Alcon externally on integrity / compliance topics
Experience with an international environment, communicate with senior leaders with corporate responsibility and with balancing global standards and local cultures
