Otis is seeking a Labor Relations Manager to manage labor and employee relations for its union represented employees in the United States and Canada.  This position will report to the Sr. Director of Labor & Employee Relations. The LR Manager position is responsible for developing and implementing labor and employee relations initiatives and strategies in the United States and Canada.   

Job Responsibilities Include:

Establish labor relations strategies for Otis’ unionized workforce and our employee bargaining representatives that align with and support our priorities and goalsProvide advice and counsel to management on all matters involving labor and employment law and labor contract interpretation and administrationEnsure workplace compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulationsProvide counsel and direction regarding employment practices; ensure compliance with Company policy, procedures, and programs; interpret and provide guidance to employees and managersAct as a chief spokesperson for the Company in single and multi-employer negotiations with bargaining unit representativesPrepare, coordinate and assist with Company pre-negotiations collective bargaining strategy and the internal economic approval request process Prepare and present the Company’s position in grievance meetings, arbitrations, and government agency proceedingsParticipate in and contribute to key decisions relating to labor and employee relations strategiesConduct internal disciplinary reviews and present findings/recommendations to managementDevelop and conduct management training programs and campaigns in support of Otis' labor and employee relations strategiesFrequent interaction with union officials

Education

Bachelor’s degree required Law degree or Master degree in Industrial Relations strongly preferred.  Will consider Masters degree in related field and/or substantive equivalent experience

Experience /Qualifications

5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the Labor Relations field or practicePrevious experience working with and providing guidance to senior leadership in labor and employee relations Significant experience with conducting complex investigations, labor contract analysis and interpretation, collective bargaining negotiations and representing management in grievance, arbitration and agency proceedings with proven resultsComprehensive knowledge of current federal, state / provincial and local labor and employment laws and regulationsStrong analytical and persuasive written/oral communications skills are critical  Well-organized, self-motivated, process oriented, impeccable ethics and integrity, and a team playerExcellent leadership, exceptionally strong customer focus and adherence to completed staff work are required to be successful in this positionAbility to travel if needed.  Business travel is estimated at about 15% of the manager’s time annually

The salary range for this role is $160,000.00-$170,000.00.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future.  Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
