The **Senior Manager, Content Planning & Cross-Platform, Streaming Merchandising** will lead the editorial and strategic planning of VOD content for the streaming platform. This role is responsible for surfacing and packaging the most relevant on-demand news content, overseeing homepage carousel and featured placements, and ensuring alignment across global news gathering, linear programming, and digital O&O efforts. This individual will play a critical leadership role in maximizing content discoverability and engagement while ensuring the streaming platform reflects the most important and timely news moments. The position will sit alongside and closely partner with the **Senior Manager of Live & Breaking News** to deliver a unified, high-impact streaming experience. **Key Responsibilities:** **Editorial Programming & Content Packaging** • Lead daily and long-range planning for VOD content, ensuring the most timely and engaging content is published and highlighted. • Own homepage carousels, featured rails, and shelf placements, making data-informed decisions to drive discovery and engagement. • Supervise the editorial planning calendar, ensuring strong news value, freshness, and depth across core coverage areas and recurring franchises. **Cross-Platform Alignment & Communication** • Act as the primary editorial liaison between streaming VOD content and linear programming, global newsgathering, and O&O programming teams. • Drive coordination and alignment around major events, breaking news moments, and tentpole coverage, ensuring streaming content complements and extends the brand’s editorial mission. • Partner with metadata, content operations, and creative teams to ensure content is visually compelling, accurately tagged, and surfaced appropriately across platforms. **Team Leadership & Operations** • Manage and mentor a team of Coordinators and Senior Coordinators responsible for VOD content editing, selection, and publishing. • Establish clear processes, editorial guidelines, and performance expectations to ensure operational excellence and editorial consistency. • Monitor day-to-day publishing workflows and troubleshoot any bottlenecks or publishing issues in partnership with technical teams. **Performance Analysis & Optimization** • In partnership with Growth Marketing, utilize audience data and performance analytics to guide editorial decisions, test new content strategies, and refine platform presentation. • Identify content gaps or underleveraged assets and propose new formats or packaging to improve retention, engagement, and time watched. • Report performance trends and editorial wins regularly to internal stakeholders. **Key Qualifications** **• Experience:** 7+ years in digital video, news programming, content strategy, or OTT/streaming editorial leadership. **• Editorial Expertise:** Deep knowledge of news, editorial judgment, and digital-first storytelling, particularly in on-demand formats. **• Platform & Tool Proficiency:** o Experience using CMS and merchandising tools to manage video content across digital and streaming platforms. o Familiarity with video editing workflows and asset management systems; comfort directing creative and metadata needs. **• Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Proven ability to align and lead across newsrooms, production, technical, and product teams in a matrixed organization. **• Analytical Skills:** Proficiency in using data dashboards and performance metrics to inform editorial and merchandising decisions. **• Leadership:** Experience managing and developing teams with a focus on executional excellence and editorial growth. **• Communication:** Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present editorial strategies and performance insights to leadership and stakeholders. **• Adaptability:** Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, live-news environment with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent deadlines. **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience in news or media organizations with global reach and complex crossplatform distribution. • Familiarity with streaming best practices and audience behavior in mobile, app, and connected TV environments. • Experience launching new workflows, editorial franchises, or cross-platform initiatives that improved audience reach or engagement **How We Get Things Done…** This last bit is probably the most important! Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $125,510.00 - $233,090.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
