Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Consumer Insights and will play a pivotal role in developing a deep understanding of consumer trends and media audiences’ perceptions and attitudes towards Versant portfolio brands. By leveraging a wide array of quantitative and qualitative primary research methods along with syndicated data, the Versant Media Consumer Insights team supports a broad range of internal stakeholders – including company leaders, marketing, editorial, and business development – to help them shape, evolve, and grow our media businesses for the future.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who loves tackling tough questions and has a passion for consumer insights and the media industry. The candidate should have a talent for synthesizing multiple data sources into clear and persuasive stories with actionable insights in order to engage, influence, and inspire cross-functional stakeholders at various levels.  

Responsibilities:

Represent the voice of the consumer across the brand portfolioCollaborate to provide data-backed thought leadership on the consumer perspective to stakeholders throughout the organizationSupport ongoing research needs and custom qualitative and quantitative research projects from strategy through execution, including the management of viewer panels, brand trackers, and ad-hoc studiesAssist with research design, execution, and analysis, partnering with internal collaborators and external vendors as neededLeverage syndicated data to add additional context to primary research findings and behavioral data  Develop and present story-driven, executive-friendly presentations tailored to individual stakeholdersHelp support overall needs and goals of the Consumer Insights and broader Content & Audience Analytics team, including fostering collaborative relationships with peers, mentoring junior team members, and helping to elevate the research team’s value, thought leadership, and influence within the organizationAssist with team project management and administrative duties, from helping with the budget/invoice process to maintaining a research schedule

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business, communications, marketing, social sciences or a related field)5-10 years of experience in media or market research, including working for a client-side company or market research supplierDemonstrated experience with quantitative research, including survey design, sampling plans, and analysis, as well as qualitative research, including focus groups, IDIs, and community panels Ability to learn various tools and interfaces for conducting research (programming surveys, manipulating data), and visualizing data and research resultsAbility to work autonomously and under pressure to keep projects moving forwardAttention to detail, with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective  Ability to synthesize key insights from multiple sources (primary and secondary) and succinctly share information for strategic decisionsExcellent writing and storytelling skills to create visually compelling presentations that bring data and consumers to lifeExcellent verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt communications and level of necessary details to the audienceCapable project manager, able to oversee projects from inception to completion, with the ability to balance competing prioritiesStrong familiarity and passion for TV across genres

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience partnering with content executives on testing, including testing of concepts, pilots, titles, and series maintenance studiesAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organizationUnderstanding of entertainment industry trends and how they affect consumer behavior across multiple platformsStrong decision-making skills and adaptability to changing circumstances

Additional Requirements:

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $115,000 (bonus eligible)
