What is the opportunity?
The Sr. Manager, Application Support & Maintenance will be a technical and operational leader for the Wealth Management group, providing support for a suite of applications within the US Data Services and Integration space. You will be responsible for leading all aspects related to supporting and maintaining the applications and will collaborate with other application teams, business partners, RBC Infrastructure, application architects. This job will allow for proper segregation of duties between the run the business activities, for which this position will be responsible, and the change the business activities (application development), which will be the responsibility of a Director who is a peer to this position.
What will you do?
Lead a team of Technical System Specialists and Application Specialists both onshore and offshore within the United States, Canada, and India
Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and use of Monitoring and Automation tools and processes to improve support and application efficiency
Be the key resource for managing application change management, resolving production support issues and administering project budgets which includes forecasting and recovering resources across the maintenance platform applications
Will develop a deep understanding of the application architecture and workflows that make-up the application. This includes all of the integrations with upstream and downstream systems as relates to data movement
Will be responsible for influencing the technology platforms and solutions for our applications incorporating relevant redundancy into the design while ensuring use of best practices
Will be responsible for documentation and design diagrams that will assist with capturing and perpetuating subject matter expertise within the teams
Will effectively engage with all team members and business partners in order to successfully maintain strong, healthy, honest relationships
You will be based in Minneapolis but will manage resources in Canada, United States (Minneapolis) and India with potential travel up to 4 times a year to visit Toronto.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
Proven people management experience along with, application support and enhancement experience
Extensive experience in large-scale software implementation(s) for Financial Services or enterprise organizations and experience supporting business critical enterprise application suites.
Strong leadership/facilitation and communication skills, that will enable the candidate to manage cross functional technical teams along with enhancing both business and team member relationships
Experience with forecasting, budgeting and resource management
Data and Integration Solution knowledge and understanding of relational databases
Nice-to-Have:
Exposure to Middleware technology and concepts such as MQSeries/Websphere, Microservices and REST/SOAP APIs, and understanding of programming languages such as Cobol, JCL, Java, C, HTML, VB, Visual C++, SpringBoot
Experience with monitoring and automation tools such as Dynatrace Managed, Aternity, Ansible, Blueprisim, Moogsoft and PagerDuty
Enterprise-level database and OS experience (preferably DB2, and/or SQL along with Windows, AIX, Linux, etc.), including SQL scripting and queries
Strong business domain understanding of Wealth Management

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $85,000-$150,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
