Lucid Motors is currently seeking a Sr. Body Interiors Engineer – Plant Vehicle Engineering for our Advanced Manufacturing Plant facility in Arizona (AMP-1). Responsibilities:
Responsible for enforcing the design intent assembly requirements on the assembly line for Body Interiors components including, but not limited to, hard trims, soft trims, center consoles, instrument panels, door trims, displays, electronics, switches and mechanisms. Be a liaison between manufacturing, plant vehicle engineering, and interiors engineering teams to ensure constant communication and execution during launch stage. Develop and implement robust interim countermeasures via factory process deviation requests to address existing or emerging issues. As sustaining engineer, implement permanent countermeasures through the Engineering Change Request process and CAD modeling solutions using 3DEXPERIENCE. Apply data-driven and fact-based approaches to proactively solve problems and prevent issues caused by process deviations or critical part quality defects. Troubleshoot and resolve complex component/system-level problems using standard problem-solving techniques and measurement tools.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering; Master's degree preferred. 7+ years of automotive experience in design and release and/or vehicle attributes through at least one full vehicle development cycle. OEM automotive or Tier 1 supplier experience. Proficiency in CAD design, applying DFM, DFA, and DFS principles. Experience in launching automotive vehicles at an OEM. Proficient in reading and interpreting GD&T. Skilled in DVA and stack-up analysis; experienced with dimensional analysis using ECUBE (full-size car master body) and Checking Fixtures for fitment objectives. Strong understanding of Automotive Core Tools for quality management (e.g., SPC, Control Plans, MSA), with focus on early risk identification via DFMEA and continuous improvement practices. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, thermo-compression, lamination, over-molding, water cutting, milling, chroming and finishing (color and texture). Broad knowledge of materials including polymers, composites, leather, fabrics, vinyl, foamed films, wood veneers, carpets and insulation Prior participation in vehicle prototype builds or launch events. Understanding of CMF specifications for color, texture, material, finish, and their PPAP approval. Exceptional communication and documentation skills required. Travel is required between the Casa Grande, AZ factory and the Engineering HQ in Newark, CA, as needed.
Preferred:
Experience with CAD IN 3DEXPERIENCE. Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification. Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence. Knowledge of metal brackets and magnesium thixomolding manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for interior electric components and switches. Familiarity with vehicle lighting system components and safety regulations. Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals.
