Sr. HW Regulatory Compliance Engineer
Description Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. What will you help us create? As a Sr. Compliance Engineer, you will be experienced in Radio Frequency (RF), ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Energy Efficiency certification processes. You will have familiarity with North American and Global standards and compliance requirements. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative wireless products to meet high performance bar. You will work closely with internal interdisciplinary teams to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in an open collaborative peer environment. You will develop and execute strategies that address evolving global wireless spectrum standards and requirements. Your role will include solving ambitious and complex compliance challenges through research, engagement with regulatory agencies, hands-on testing, debugging, and validation activities. You must be highly analytical, able to work effectively across multiple teams and have a strong ability to navigate the global regulatory compliance schemes to enable market access of consumer electronic products. As a technical lead, you will establish standardized approaches and best practices while mentoring and supporting junior engineers. Additionally you must excel at communicating complex regulatory matters to engineering teams, driving compliant designs from early development phases, and make sound technical decisions that balance innovation with compliance requirements. Key job responsibilities 1. In this role, you will work closely with the product management team and design team by researching and specifying regulatory and industry certification requirements. 2. You will plan and direct compliance testing of hardware platforms, devices, and accessories. 3. You will support the design team through product execution, and will ultimately assist them to meet all applicable hardware compliance requirements. 4. When necessary, you will perform fast-paced, detailed, and results-oriented independent research and literature reviews to yield actionable conclusions to initially ambiguous questions. 5. You will be responsible for delivering concise and informative compliance updates to management and collaborating with the legal team to navigate complex compliance issues. 6. You will submit filings to obtain certifications. Regulatory approvals will consist of domestic(FCC) and international certifications(ISED/CE/MIC), and other regulatory bodies. 7. You will also work with our manufacturing partners, labs to test and ensure all in-production devices remain compliant with all certifications. 8. When necessary, you will travel to APAC 10-20% work time. Basic Qualifications - 1. Master degree in RF/Microwave Design, Electromagnetics, Antenna, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 2. 10+ years of experience in wireless regulatory compliance, testing, and certifications. - 3. 10+ years of experience with wireless technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, GPS, WWAN (GSM/WCDMA/LTE/5G), and etc. - 4. 5+ years of experience with launching mass produced consumer electronics. - 5. 5+ years of experience in wireless router certification and homologations for international countries - 6. Strong leadership skills in driving certification labs, effectively prioritizing testing plans and achieving deadlines - 7. Experience in test setup with signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, call box, semi-anechoic chambers,OTA chamber ,and etcs. - 8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to think strategically and develop solutions quickly and effectively. - 9. Organizational and project/program management skills Preferred Qualifications - 1. Experience on 6GHz routers and/or AFC system development - 2. Experience obtaining various industry certifications (e.g., BT SIG, WFA, etc.). - 3. Experience with standards development, industry advocacy groups, and regulatory committees. - 4. Experience on RF architecture design - 5. Experience on RFIC and/or RFFE chipset design - 6. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
