Job Description Summary
The Senior Facility Manager is responsible for managing a commercial/industrial facility, ensuring compliance with the client, local, state, and federal requirements while optimizing operational efficiency. This role oversees facility maintenance, capital projects, preventative maintenance programs, and manages a team of facility management professionals. The position serves as a subject matter expert for all facility-related matters and acts as the key liaison between operations teams, leadership, vendors, and property owners.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Management & Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned manufacturing facilities, ensuring a safe, productive, and professional work environmentManage all facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security systemsComprehend, maintain and enhance the preventative maintenance program to minimize equipment failures and maximize operational efficiencyUtilize CMMS to schedule, track, and manage work orders, ensuring timely maintenance and issue resolutionPerform repair/replace analytics and decision-making for building infrastructure, production equipment, and mechanical systemsAnalyze maintenance outliers, determine root causes, and direct appropriate actionEnsure proper servicing of machinery and equipment to prevent unplanned downtimeBudget & Resource Management
Prepare, submit, and manage facility budgets aligned with organizational goals and objectivesTrack budget variances and ensure smooth recovery processesManage and monitor capital budgets, R&M spend, and G&A expendituresOversee the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for facility operationsSupport prompt collection of management fees and reimbursements from third-party tenants (if applicable)Vendor & Contractor Management
Identify, qualify, select, and develop national/regional vendors for repairs and scheduled maintenance programsGrow and manage relationships with outside vendors and contractorsNegotiate contracts and ensure delivery of services as agreed uponMonitor vendor performance and manage warranty of equipment and work performedAct as the field contact for problem resolution with landlords or property managersProject Management
Plan, schedule, and execute all approved capital projects to completion on time, within scope, and on budgetLead and coordinate facility renovation projects with minimal disruption to production processesMaintain detailed project timelines, budget reports, and risk management strategiesSupport corporate roll-out projects and assist other departments with scope creation and executionCompliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with portfolio-wide initiatives and required local, state, and federal laws/regulationsDevelop and implement safety protocols for maintenance teamsPartner with EH&S to maintain regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environmentTeam & Relationship Management
Lead and develop a team of Facility Management professionalsBuild actionable and measurable career development plans for direct reportsParticipate in compensation planning processMaintain effective relationships with third-party owners (Landlords), ensuring contract compliancePartner with IT, HR, and other departments to support cross-functional needsProvide consistent communication to national/regional leadership on all projectsQualifications
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredAdvanced degree preferredProfessional certifications such as CPM, RPA, or CSM highly desirableExperience
8+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably in manufacturing environmentsDemonstrated experience managing capital projects and maintenance programsExperience with vendor management and contract negotiationSkills & Knowledge
Strong leadership and relationship-building skillsExcellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinkingAdvanced knowledge of building systems and maintenance requirementsProficient in budget management and financial analysisStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience presenting complex projects and regular site updates to executive level leadersExcellent project management capabilitiesProficiency in Excel and facility management software systemsExperience with CMMS implementation and utilizationKnowledge of standard business and accounting practicesProven record of providing excellent internal and external customer serviceThis position requires a detail-oriented professional who can balance strategic facility planning with hands-on operational management in a manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to maintenance, strong vendor management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams while ensuring operational continuity.
Estimated total compensation for this position:
121,200.00 – 175,700.00 USD per yearThe total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
