Sr. Director - Portfolio and Project Management Asset Leader

We drive decisions through maximising data resulting in efficient drug delivery and optimal portfolio management. **What you’ll be doing:** You will play a critical role in the acceleration and delivery of our portfolio. You will partner closely with cross-functional colleagues and key collaborators to understand the science, develop, drive and deliver innovative asset strategies and integrated development plans for discovery through early phase development teams. While the major focus of this role will be leadership of early phase programs (PE through Phase 2), your ability to think with a portfolio-level approach is critical. **How you’ll succeed:** + Influence and lead teams through partner discussions to obtain approvals for the asset strategy, investment strategy, funding and scope which form the foundation for execution of the integrated global development plans. + Drive implementation of asset strategy and global integrated development plans for discovery teams and early phase development asset(s), considering cross-functional needs within a global company, challenging the team’s and leadership’s thinking to exceed overall project goals when possible. + Increase portfolio value through operational excellence in the execution of focused and innovative development plans. + Use data, encourage innovative solutions, bring external focus, perspective, and competitiveness to solution development. + Anticipate and resolve barriers the team is facing by bringing creative solutions to enable success of the team. + Play a critical role in building inclusive high performing teams by creating an environment of cooperation and mutual respect where diverse ideas are welcomed and critical to achieve the team objectives. Emphasize and prioritize team health and personal well-being. **What you should bring:** + Learning agility and collaborative problem-solving skills: able to anticipate and recognize problems, diagnose root causes, and take corrective/preventative action to learn and improve. + A strong scientific background that will complement teams and contribute to a world-class drug-development organization. + Strong intuition for business to drive optimization of the asset strategy/value realization plan by understanding the greater portfolio context, which includes key events in the external environment. + Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members, collaborators and external vendors/partners. + Strong at framing decisions for team and governance, leading through the decision, and performing after the decisions. + Inclusive, engaging leader with previous experience in building high performing teams and developing talent across diverse leadership styles, backgrounds, work environments, and cultures. **Your Qualifications:** + 10+ years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or drug development, with a strong technical background in drug discovery, development or delivery. + Advanced graduate degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in a health-related, scientific or engineering field is preferred + Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Masters in Project Management or PMP) Project management certifications will also be considered Lilly is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities to actively engage in the workforce, ensuring equal opportunities when vying for positions. The anticipated wage for this position is $151,500 - $244,200 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
