Sr. Director for Android Automotive & SDV

General Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced and technically proficient System Architect to lead the design and integration of Android Open-Source Project (AOSP), Android Automotive OS (AAOS), and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms. This role will be pivotal in shaping next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and SDV architectures, collaborating closely with Google, OEMs, and internal SoC platform teams.  Looking for a lead who has been active in the industry in these areas below:

Key Responsibilities:

Architect and lead the integration of AAOS and SDV stacks on Qualcomm-based platforms, ensuring alignment with Google's AOSP roadmap and OEM requirements

Define and evolve the unified SDV+IVI architecture, including HAL, middleware, and service orchestration layers

Drive system-level performance optimization, security hardening (e.g., Keymint, vulnerability handling), and strategize solutions across IVI and ADAS

Collaborate with Google and OEM partners on SDV source access, roadmap alignment, and feature enablement (e.g., diagnostics, signal handling, service lifecycle management) 

Lead technical discussions on platform scalability, modularization, and containerization strategies for AAOS-SDV deployments

Provide architectural guidance on integration of SDV modules such as SOME/IP stacks, VSIDL, and vehicle signal interfaces 

Contribute to the development of test strategies and validation frameworks of SDV components

Represent the company in joint working groups with Google and industry consortia (e.g., Eclipse SDV, SOAFEE)

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

•    4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

15+ years of experience in embedded systems, automotive software, or Android platform development

Deep expertise in AOSP internals, Android framework, HAL, and AAOS architecture

Proven experience with Connected Services/SDV architectures, vehicle abstraction layers, and automotive communication stacks (e.g., SOME/IP, RPC)

Strong understanding of Qualcomm SoC platforms, GKI kernel, and virtualization (hypervisors like QNX, KVM..)

Proficiency in C/C++, Rust .. for embedded and application-level development

Understanding with security solutions in linux, Android and the differences

Understanding of safety and cybersecurity solutions

Experience working directly with Google’s AAOS/SDV teams or similar Tier-1/OEM engagements

Contributions to open-source automotive initiatives (e.g., AOSP, Eclipse SDV)

Knowledge of cloud-based automotive development workflows (e.g., with GCP, CI/CD for SDV)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Leverages expert Software knowledge and experience to implement and oversee the design, development, creation, modification, and validation of embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.

•    Analyzes user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to oversee and influence the design and customization of highly sophisticated software with maximum operational efficiency.

•    Oversees the resolution of design, coding, and other technical issues by presenting end-to-end solutions.

•    Determines guidelines for design, coding, and testing efforts and ensures projects are completed to specifications and schedules.

•    Sets the guidelines for code reviews, regression tests, and the triage of issues to ensure the quality of code.

•    Collaborates with high-level representatives from other functions internally (e.g., testing group, product group, customers) and externally to develop and execute plan system design of a large initiative.

•    Identifies, creates, and promotes a unifying system vision and strategy across organizations with associated long-term goals.

•    Sets department guidelines for writing detailed technical documentation for Software projects; writes and reviews technical documentation for highly complex projects.

Level of Responsibility:

•    Provides supervision to direct reports.  

•    Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.

•    Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.

•    Oversees budgets, schedules, and performance standards for multiple departments or functional areas.

•    Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that will have substantial impact over the organization).

•    Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$248,000.00 - $372,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
