What You’ll Be Doing
As an integral member of the Personal Banking Products team and reporting to the VP, Product Development and Client Engagement, the Sr. Director, Product Management will have ownership for the everyday banking product portfolio, including Profit and Loss management. The Senior Director is accountable for pricing and product development to maximize account, balance, revenue and profit growth and owns the end-to-end brand and client experience for our top retail suite of products. As head of a product portfolio, you will ultimately own your products – the brand, balances, profitability and the experience. The Senior Director is accountable for driving profitable balance and account growth of the Everyday Banking portfolio, including Smart and Smart Plus, and increasing the % of primary deposit relationships across our client base , finding the right mix of creative problem solving, analytics and promotional levers to grow is up to you! You will challenge the status quo is a necessity, not a nice-to-do, as finding and delivering key points of differentiation in the market is what will set CIBC apart. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is flexible, thrives in ambiguity, think quickly and creatively, and approaches problem solving, teamwork and innovation with a positive attitude.

How You’ll Succeed
Broad/Strategic thinker – Create and own the annual and multi-year strategic and financial planning processes for the portfolio across: Everyday banking products (i.e., Smart and Smart Plus), Key segment product offers and benefits (e.g., seniors, youth/students), Franchising opportunities (e.g., strategic initiatives, group banking, single-product only clients, family banking). You will lead funded, strategic initiatives to drive portfolio growth and improve the client experience (e.g., Youth & Student product construct and experience design). Design and execute client journeys to discover, purchase and use everyday banking products working closely with key partners, such as Client Engagement, Digital and Payments, with a strong focus on establishing primary deposit relationships and franchising clients into a multi-product relationship.
Results oriented – Assess sales channel performance and put strategies and tactics in place to optimize results. You will develop new features and lead acquisition campaigns and offers and pricing to drive portfolio growth, increase funded accounts, drive sticky deposit and payment behaviours and increase the value of our product suite for our clients; establish overall pricing strategy for this portfolio and ensure pricing guidelines in place for all products in the portfolio; develop strategies to migrate legacy accounts to hero products.
Develop strong partnerships – Monitor the market and competitive environment (consumer, technology, competition and government/regulatory agencies) and use to develop strategies and recommendations to protect / grow our portfolio and evolve our products, pricing and experiences. Assess current state campaign performance and work with key partners to enhance (e.g., Analytics, Modeling, Marketing, Front Line); work closely with marketing, product communications and sales forces to improve savings penetration, reach new clients, optimize across multiple sales channels (e.g., banking centres, digital, mobile sales force, wealth) and ultimately drive portfolio growth; work closely with Payments to find ways to make the payments experience easier and more innovative for our clients.
People management – Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. Create a positive work environment and being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values. Hire talent to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.
Collaboration – You will have frequent contact with senior leadership and executives in Deposits and Personal Banking Products; key relationships with partners in Sales Channels, Enterprise Payments, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, Digital, Technology; frequent contact with product managers, analytics and delivery teams; Contact as required with external vendors and consultants
Who You Are
You can demonstrate 10 years of work experience in results driven business related function, e.g., product management, strategy development, strategic planning analytics, financial modeling and management consulting, problem solving, relationship management and influencing.
You have demonstrate excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills to prepare executive-level communications and presentations and execute complex analyses.
You have completed a Bachelors / Master’s degree in business related field with preferred experience in strategy, strategic planning or analytics (e.g., MBA, CFA, CA, CMA)
