Job Description: As the Senior Director, Merchandise, you will provide strategic leadership to the merchandise management function, driving the overall direction and execution of assortment planning, procurement, and sales analysis across all sales channels, including online and brick-and-mortar stores. Leveraging your extensive experience in retail merchandising, strategic planning, and leadership, you will shape the merchandise strategy, optimize inventory management, and contribute to the growth and success of our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Merchandise Strategy and Vision:

Develop and communicate a comprehensive merchandise strategy that aligns with the company's vision, market trends, and evolving customer preferences.Lead the creation of long-term assortment plans and product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and mentor a team of merchandise managers, analysts, and buyers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.Set clear performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and drive professional development.

Assortment Planning and Optimization:

Drive strategic assortment decisions by synthesizing sales data, market insights, and customer behavior to identify growth opportunities and refine product offerings.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive assortment strategies across various customer segments and sales channels.

Vendor Relationships and Partnerships:

Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and collaborative initiatives.Monitor vendor performance and foster a collaborative vendor partnership approach.

Purchase Planning and Inventory Management:

Lead the development of comprehensive purchase plans that consider demand forecasting, inventory turnover, and sales targets.Collaborate closely with inventory management teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and manage excess stock.

Market Trends and Insights:

Stay at the forefront of industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior to guide merchandise strategies and capitalize on emerging opportunities.Utilize sales data and market insights to drive pricing, promotional strategies, and product lifecycle management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, and supply chain teams to align merchandise strategies with overall business objectives.Effectively communicate assortment plans, promotional activities, and product launches to relevant stakeholders.

Strategic Budget Oversight:

Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage merchandise budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.Extensive experience in retail merchandising, with a track record of successfully managing omni-channel merchandise strategies.Proven leadership skills with a history of effectively leading and developing high-performing teams.Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data.Outstanding negotiation skills and demonstrated success in vendor relationship management.Proficiency in data analysis tools, forecasting, and Microsoft Excel.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.Deep understanding of retail industry trends, market dynamics, and consumer behavior.
