Senior Data Analyst - People AnalyticsPosition OverviewWe're seeking a Senior Data Analyst to play a critical founding role in establishing our new people analytics function. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic vision, requiring someone who can dive deep into data analysis while helping shape the future of our people analytics capabilities. Working alongside our existing senior Workday report writer, this analyst will focus on advanced analytics, insights generation, and executive-level storytelling with data. The ideal candidate will have Workday experience but will primarily use that data for sophisticated analysis and strategic recommendations rather than operational reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & InsightsPerform complex data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to workforce planning, employee engagement, retention, performance, and diversity & inclusionConduct statistical analysis and predictive modeling to support strategic people decisionsTranslate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholdersDevelop sophisticated analytics that go beyond standard operational reportingExecutive Presentation & StorytellingCreate compelling executive presentations that communicate people data insights to senior leadershipDesign executive dashboards and summary reports for C-suite and board-level audiencesDevelop narrative frameworks that connect data insights to business strategy and outcomesPresent findings directly to executives and facilitate data-driven decision-making sessionsData Management & QualityPartner with our Workday report writer to access and utilize HR system data for advanced analyticsIdentify and resolve data quality issues, implementing processes to maintain data integrity across analytical workflowsPerform data cleansing, validation, and standardization to prepare data for sophisticated analysisWork across multiple data sources beyond Workday to create comprehensive people analytics datasetsDocument analytical methodologies and ensure reproducibility of insightsStrategic Function BuildingPlay a foundational role in building our people analytics function from the ground upHelp define strategy, processes, and analytical capabilities alongside leadershipContribute to establishing frameworks for measuring and analyzing workforce effectivenessSupport the development of our people analytics roadmap and identify key metrics and KPIsPartner with leadership to develop standards and best practices for people analyticsCollaborate with IT and other teams to establish data infrastructure and analytical capabilitiesStakeholder CollaborationWork closely with HR business partners, talent acquisition, compensation, and other HR functionsPresent findings and recommendations to senior leadership and executive teamsTrain and support HR team members on data interpretation and self-service analyticsRespond to ad-hoc analytical requests and support decision-making processesRequired QualificationsTechnical Skills5+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in HR/people analyticsExperience with Workday data (leveraging existing reports, understanding data structure), but not necessarily building operational reportsAdvanced proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and manipulationStrong expertise with data visualization and presentation tools (Tableau, Power BI, PowerPoint, or similar)Experience with statistical analysis tools (R, Python, or similar) for advanced analyticsProven data wrangling and data quality assessment capabilitiesStrong presentation design and executive communication skillsAnalytical & Business SkillsProven ability to identify and resolve data quality issuesExperience with statistical analysis, trend analysis, and predictive modelingStrong business acumen with understanding of HR processes and metricsProject management skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities  Communication & LeadershipExceptional presentation skills with experience creating executive-level presentationsAbility to synthesize complex data insights into compelling narratives for C-suite audiencesExperience presenting directly to senior leadership and board membersStrategic thinking with ability to contribute to vision and roadmap developmentCollaborative approach to working with specialized team members (like Workday report writers)Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Psychology, Business, or related fieldExperience building people analytics functions from the ground up strongly preferredKnowledge of employment law and compliance requirementsCertification in Workday reporting or related HR systemsExperience with advanced analytics techniques (machine learning, workforce planning models)Previous experience in consulting or similar client-facing roles
