Lenovo’s legal department is looking for a talented, highly motivated and dynamic Sr. Counsel, Legal, Patent Licensing to join its IP team.

We are looking for someone who is an outstanding attorney with demonstrated experience in complex inbound IP license negotiations as a licensee, intellectual property law including analyzing patents and patent claims, negotiating and drafting complex intellectual property transactions as a licensee in various technology areas, patent license agreements, joint development agreements, patent pools, standards agreements, and NDAs.  Strong candidates would also have experience proactively mitigating IP risk.

We are looking for a candidate with significant experience on:

Negotiate and close inbound patent licenses, springing licenses, cross-licenses, patent infringement settlement agreements and IP-related provisions in licensing agreements, such as covenants-not-to sue, IP indemnities, and joint ownership provisions.Providing strategic business and legal advice as a licensee to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our intellectual property rights with a focus on mitigating the risk of non-practicing entities and protecting market channels.Proactively engaging various teams across the enterprise to identify potential IP risks and provide education and training to technical teams.A range of intellectual property and technology transactional matters as a licensee, including structuring, drafting, revising, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements related to intellectual property and technology including license agreements, research and development agreements, strategic alliance agreements, maintenance, support and other service agreements, and other intellectual property and technology agreements. The candidate may also assist on intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctor with Superior academic credentials; Membership in good standing in at least one state bar;12+ years of experience providing counseling for intellectual property transactions

Preferred Qualifications: 

Excellent communication skills, particularly with respect to negotiating with potential licensors and working with and advising internal partners on inbound licensing opportunities;Team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills;Ability to manage complexity in a dynamic business environment;Hard-working and a self-starter with excellent attention to detail.Location:  Raleigh or Chicago preferred; remote candidates considered.

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $195,000 - $205,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
