About the Role

DoorDash is hiring an exceptional, business-minded deal lawyer to join our Commercial Legal team. You work alongside them with key partners throughout the company, including Business Development, Strategy, and Finance, to close first-of-kind strategic partnerships and high-value deals. You’ll work on a wide variety of deal types, many of which enable DoorDash to open new routes to market. You’ll also be the lead on major deals and projects that make an immediate impact on our fast-growing, dynamic business. Above all, you’ll help our business partners and executives solve problems and take down roadblocks.

We’re looking for an experienced negotiator with a strong work ethic, excellent analytical and communication skills, and incredibly solid fundamentals as a lawyer. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic leader who is creative and curious, is a self-starter who takes ownership over initiatives, and is hands-on taking into consideration the lowest level of detail.

You will report into the Director, Commercial Legal, who leads the team that supports all strategic partnership deals for DoorDash Legal.

You have deep experience leading the drafting and legal negotiation of major deals in collaboration with C-level execs. You have provided legal support for business development and/or strategic partnership teams. You don’t miss the forest for the trees, but you also don’t miss the trees. You work autonomously and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. You have a proven ability to balance legal risk and business objectives. You love to cheer for your teammates. You foster empathy, collaboration, and mutual respect in your practice, and you default toward assuming good intentions about others. You are curious, humble (no task is too big or too small), and—through it all—don’t take yourself too seriously. You are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and have prioritized participating in DEI initiatives in past roles. You have a J.D. and are admitted to any US state bar. You have 8+ years legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, including 4+ years house.
