Role Purpose
Purpose of Position: Serve as an electrical controls resource for the Divisional Engineering Global Equipment team driving new equipment and system introductions, process improvements and cost reduction projects.
Key Responsibilities Provide electrical and controls engineering expertise in support of new equipment and system introductions, continuous improvements, cost reductions, maintenance, and productivity improvements. Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to successfully deliver fully integrated automation equipment to Corning’s plants on-time, on-budget, and that satisfy performance measures. Actively participate / direct all phases of the project including design, fabrication, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer. Internal subject matter expert in control systems (PLC, HMI, Motion Control Systems, Machine Vision, Robotics), system integration, sensors and electro-mechanical devices. Ensure all controls engineering projects are documented properly with electrical drawing packages conforming to Corning standards. Work with project team to solve automation problems, resolve project related issues, and develop fundamental understanding of technical / process requirements critical to system success. Develop control architectures and system integration requirements that will satisfy process and manufacturing requirements. Individual must be capable of executing project assignments as well as managing projects, in a team based environment, with minimal supervision. Act as the Controls Division engineering POC (Point of Contact) to support on the receiving of new automated technology and deployment in manufacturing plants. Experiences/Education - RequiredQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3+ years of electrical / controls experience Able to travel globally (United States, Poland, and China at a minimum) Valid passport and Visa Extensive travel to the United States required for the first 2 years English proficiencyExperiences/Education - Desired
Desired Skills:
Manufacturing experience Familiarized with Industry 4.0 technologies Beckhoff, Omron, Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming skills Ladder and structured text programming languages Experience with SISTEMA evaluations Knowledge of SCADA (GE iFix, Ignition, or similar) Experience with laser processing in manufacturing environment Prior experience moving a new product or process from development into manufacturing Experience with AutoCAD
