Your Impact
In partnership with the Global Sourcing and Vendor Management teams, you are responsible for all inbound/procurement contract negotiations and ongoing contract lifecycle management activities. You will advise on a wide variety of commercial contracts including HR, benefits, payroll, travel, marketing & events, contingent labour, corporate services, real estate and facilities, I.T. with a particular focus on data privacy and security and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You will help us to build scalable tools and processes to support a growing global business as well as sourcing and procurement transformation initiatives.
What the role offers:
Drafting, evaluating, reviewing, advising on, interpreting and negotiating various supplier agreements, including statements of work and aligning with OpenText legal standardsContract strategy, negotiations and contract lifecycle managementIndependently interpreting contractual clauses and managing contractual disputes, including corrective actionResearching global data protection laws and policies, reviewing privacy impact assessments, and other relevant data protection activitiesSupport in managing the contract change order process; Managing the contract close out procedure according to OpenText policies as applicable to established contractsReviewing and transitioning of all supplier contracts related to merger and acquisition transactions to ensure that all contracts are loaded into the OpenText contract repository and set up for effective management and administration, identifying legal risks and opportunities
What you need to succeed:
Minimum of a JD, LLB degree or equivalent, ideally Desired: Qualified lawyer in any Canadian province with 5+ years post qualification work experience5 to 7 years related contract management or legal work experience with commercial contractsCertified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation through the National Contract Management Association or other similar designation or equivalent work experienceKnowledge and expertise in common and/or civil lawProven ability to interact with all levels of the company including executive management; strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, problem-solve collaborate and build relationshipsExperience working collaboratively with cross-functional global teams; Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality; demonstrated strength in working in a high change environment as well as an ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlinesEducate global procurement teams with respect to legal and risk management, contracting practices and proceduresFluency (oral, written and reading) in English is requiredDesired: fluency in an additional language such as French, German, Spanish and/or Portuguese.
