What You'll Be Doing
As a member of CIBC’s Technology Architecture Risk Practice team , will be responsible for providing advice and consultation for risk, regulatory and Industry best practices. The role provides risk and compliance based leadership, interpreting complex information of technology risk stream of compliance programs and regulatory requirements. Leading discussions for auditors, deficiencies, SOMO activities, risk issues and governance concerns in alignment with the CIBC Operational Risk Management Framework and regulators (e.g OSFI) requirements.
The Sr. Consultant, Risk and Governance develops, recommends and facilitates activities aligned to CIBC operational risk practices and regulatory requirements, including alignment to the Technology Risk Management Policy. The Sr. Consultant will take part as a key stakeholder in various risk assessment (CIRA, RCSA) to provide effective review and challenge of risk related to technology architecture. This role will support the Architecture Risk team’s mandate and responsibilities by collaborating with key stakeholders and control partners across the enterprise, helping to demonstrate effective risk oversight and challenge accountabilities. You will work closely with business and technology partners to identify, manage, mitigate, and monitor risk within the technology architecture group.

How You’ll succeed
Understanding Regulatory, Operational Risk, and Industry Best Practices- Work closely with internal and external partners to assess requirements and facilitate discussions, ensuring that all needs and risk/governance requirements are met.
Architecture Risk Practice- Identify, review, and develop corrective actions related to risk and mitigation activities associated with the Technology Architecture Risk Methodology.
Risk Management Assessments- Conduct CIRA, deviation, triage risk assessments, and architecture solutions risk assessments.
Document Architecture Risk Processes- Develop documentation for key and non-key controls.
Oversight of Risk, Compliance, and Governance Culture- Support end-to-end compliance and risk as a subject matter expert. Provide guidance to a diverse team of architecture and technology professionals, maintain a collaborative work environment, and assist team members in resolving organizational, operational, and process challenges.
Build Strong Relationships- Effectively interact and build relationships across departments. Lead discussions with auditors, address deficiencies, manage SOMO activities, and resolve risk and governance concerns. Demonstrate strong relationship management skills to obtain buy-in and close identified issues.
Creative Thinking- Approach challenges with a creative mindset, identifying opportunities and thinking like a business owner to ensure effective risk management and oversight.
Visionary Perspective- Anticipate future trends and developments in your discipline, conduct research, and proactively plan for emerging themes and scenarios.

You have more than 5 years of experience in a risk or governance role, where you have managed programs, elicited requirements, interpreted risks, and identified appropriate mitigations. You demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communication skills, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data and conduct gap analyses. Additionally, you are proficient in Microsoft applications.
