We bring financial context into the picture when partnering with the lines of business, senior and executive management, and our board of directors.

The Opportunity

The West Point, VA Mill, is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join the Mill’s Finance Team.  This position provides business analysis for various financial and accounting activities in support of both the mill and corporate internal customers. The individual in this role must be comfortable in a manufacturing/process environment, exhibit effective communication skills, be a self-starter and able to work independently.

 How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

 

Perform monthly financial closing activities including journal entries and account reconciliations 

 

Perform monthly cost and variance analysisSupport and review the accounts payable process Complete assigned mill and corporate financial reporting needsSupport the monthly balance sheet reconciliation processProvide support for monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processesSupport activities related to internal and external audit requirementsPerform ad hoc analysis, reporting and project support as neededWork in conjunction with Division and Corporate tax teams to identify and track cost improvement opportunities 

 

What you need to succeed

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with an Accounting concentrationFamiliar/comfortable in a manufacturing environmentExperienced with financial analysis and reconciliation processesA minimum of 3+ years of professional experienceStrong interpersonal skills with desire and ability to work in a team/collaborative environment.Must be proficient in Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office productsGood organizational, problem solving and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple competing prioritiesExperience in JD Edwards and Hyperion a plus
