Our Industry and Technology Research Group is looking for an experienced analyst to contribute to our coverage of the middle-market Energy industry. As a valued team member, you’ll hone your existing analytical skills, develop meaningful insights into a fascinating industry, and contribute to our best-in-class middle market industry research. Our research is utilized by many of the largest private capital investors, corporations, investment banks, and service providers globally. Our team is creative, driven, and focused on providing the most insightful and actionable research to our readers and clients.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

\n\nAnalyze private market trends through the lens of private equity fundraising and dealmaking, focusing on the energy ecosystem across upstream, midstream, and downstream service providers\nConduct in-depth market research, covering key trends, market sizes, growth drivers, risks, and industry innovation\nPublish quarterly updates and research notes leveraging PitchBook’s proprietary data on private equity activity, valuations, and market trends\nBuild and maintain datasets of companies, investors, and funds; including industry taxonomies and market maps to help clients track and analyze the industry\nAttend industry conferences and engage with professionals to deepen your understanding of trends and expand your network\nEngage with current and potential clients through meetings, webinars, and events to provide value and insights for their strategic decision making process and to support PitchBook’s sales efforts\nStreamline research processes to scale with growing client demand and improve efficiency across the team\nIdentify opportunities for new research and insights utilizing PitchBook or third-party data to highlight industry trends\nDevelop innovative research offerings by leveraging proprietary or third-party partner data\nRepresent PitchBook Research externally (e.g., at conferences and webinars) and internally (collaborating across teams, including sales, marketing, and product development) \nSupport the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors \nParticipate in various company initiatives and projects as requested \n\n

Skills and Qualifications:

\n\nBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field \n5+ years of experience in equity research, investment banking, venture capital, public investing, consulting, or a related financial services role\nStrong grasp of financial concepts, including valuation techniques (discounted cash flow, comparable, etc.), internal rate of return, asset allocation, fund benchmarks, and KPIs \nMeticulous attention to detail with a strong analytical mindset \nExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills \nAdvanced proficiency in Excel; experience with the PitchBook Platform is a plus\nHigh enthusiasm for contributing to the development of new products and services tailored to private market investment opportunities\nComprehensive knowledge of the Energy industry, including the ecosystem for upstream, midstream, and downstream service providers, as well as energy equipment\nStrong knowledge of capital markets, including market structure for private equity financing\nDemonstrated expertise in writing investment research and engaging with clients on investment opportunities, preferably in the energy sector \n\n

Compensation

\n\nAnnual base salary: $170,000-$200,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 10%\n\n

*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location. 

\n

Working Conditions:

\n

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
