About the Role:
\nPitchBook Institutional Research Group is a provider of research services to corporate clients, private market investors, advisors, and other market participants. The group provides investment strategy, fund performance, and industry research through a differentiated, framework-driven approach that blends traditional fundamental investment research with PitchBook’s proprietary private market data platform. In addition, the group provides custom research and data analysis support to subscribing clients.
\nAs a PitchBook Emerging Technology Analyst, you’ll join a growing research team focused on creating best-in-class venture capital, private equity, and emerging technology research utilized by PitchBook’s global clientele of private capital investors, investment banks, corporations and other service providers. Our team is creative, driven and focused on providing actionable, differentiated industry research to our readers and clients. Specifically, we are looking for an experienced analyst to help expand our coverage of emerging trends and opportunities related to the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industry.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
\n\nConduct research and analysis of emerging trends in the biopharmaceutical industry, including biotechnology, drug development and clinical trials software, pharma tools, and pharma outsourcing \nGenerate consistent research that provides clients with up-to-date industry overviews, market trend analysis, vendor landscapes and ecosystems, independent commentary, and outlooks related to potential risks and opportunities \nUtilize proprietary PitchBook data, including our integrated clinical trials dataset, and a variety of other resources including third-party research and industry contacts to inform and develop actionable analysis \nFunction as an internal subject matter expert and contribute to internal product development efforts, especially those related to clinical trials data, to enhance the customer value of Pitchbook’s proprietary data and research platform \nWork closely with data analysis team to identify unique data points to support research, while also identifying insightful tables and graphs that can clearly illustrate that information \nManage direct-to-client distribution channels for published notes and reports \nManage and respond to inquiries from clients, press, internal colleagues and the general public regarding published research \nSupport and mentor junior and associate analysts through their development \nServe as research point of contact for various speaking engagements and press requests \nSupport the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors \nParticipate in various company initiatives and projects as requested \n\n\n
Skills and Qualifications:
\n\nMaster’s degree or higher in biomedical engineering or a related field, or equivalent biopharmaceutical industry experience\n5+ years research experience, including both qualitative and quantitative methods and translating research findings for business or non-academic contexts \nUnderstanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques (DCF, comps, etc.), IRRs, asset allocations, fund benchmarks, etc., or eagerness, and demonstrated ability to learn \nStrong interest in venture capital, private equity and the broader healthcare industry \nDemonstrate critical thinking\nDetail oriented with an analytical mindset\nStrong communication skills and proven ability to write clear and insightful research reports \nProficient in Excel; experience with the PitchBook Platform is a plus \nProficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily \n\n\n

Compensation
\n\nAnnual base salary: $150,000-$200,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 10%\n\n\n
