UPMC Cranberry Passavant is a hiring either a Sr Administrator on Duty OR an Administrator on Duty to support our Nursing Support department.
Eligible for up to a $15,000 Sign on Bonus
Shift details: This is a full-time position working rotating shifts as well as weekends and holidays
Purpose:
The Sr. Administrator on Duty oversees patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to support hospital throughput. This role provides leadership during complex situations, guides department leaders on staffing and safety, and serves as a resource for staff. They apply evidence-based practices to improve care quality and act as interim leadership during crises, ensuring communication across departments and with hospital administration.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead hospital operations by resolving patient and staff issues, improving throughput, and enhancing the patient experience.
+ Coordinate patient placement and collaborate with care teams using sound judgment and critical thinking.
+ Address operational challenges and escalate issues to appropriate departments (e.g., Risk Management, Legal, Patient Relations).
+ Maintain a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
+ Mentor and educate staff, including students and new nurses, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
+ Use research and evidence-based practices to drive process improvements, especially in capacity management.
+ Perform duties aligned with system-wide competencies and other tasks as assigned.
BS/BSN required. Masters/DNP required. If no Masters/DNP, must hold an approved national certification or Wolf Learning Academy certification. Bachelors or higher must be in nursing.
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required with 1 year leadership required. Must maintain a solid/strong performer rating on annual performance review
Prior critical care experience is required
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. National Certification preferred. National Certification Required in lieu of Masters/DNP. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferred
BLS/ CPR required 30 days for new hires/ transfers for department/ role, ACLS, NIHSS- 60 days, PALS- 6 months
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ NIH Stroke Scale (NIH)
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
