Description
We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role involves managing complex financial processes, including full cycle accounting and complex reconciliations, to ensure the organization's financial health. Responsibilities:
• Reconcile complex financial records and ensure accuracy across all accounts, including grants and funding allocations.
• Address discrepancies in financial data and implement corrections to maintain compliance with accounting standards.
• Perform month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with auditors to address issues and support audit readiness.
• Analyze and streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Evaluate and adjust long-term and short-term financial enrollment records to align with grant requirements.
• Provide guidance and documentation to transition reconciled financials to external audit firms.
• Support the organization in developing strategies to prevent future financial discrepancies.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are desired
- Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience
- Experience with accounting software
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Demonstrated skills in interacting effectively, both verbally and in writing, with functional managers
- Demonstrated knowledge of closing
- Experience with financial reporting
- Knowledge of cash applications
- Adeptness in Payments Reconciliation
- Comprehensive knowledge of account reconciliation
- Foundational knowledge in asset management
- Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
- Financial reporting systems proficiency
- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
- Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
