Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is integral to ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial operations, including financial statement preparation, contract billing, and budget management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering teamwork.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements for review by senior leadership, maintaining detailed procedures and supporting schedules.
• Assist in developing and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local accounting regulations, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Analyze agency write-offs annually, identifying trends and providing insights to improve financial practices.
• Handle billing, accounts receivable, and reconciliation of agency fee-for-service contracts, including tuition and specialized services.
• Prepare and submit grant billings on behalf of programs on a monthly basis.
• Conduct physical inventory and oversee fixed asset database management.
• Administer the 401K plan, ensuring timely submissions and coordinating with payroll processes.
• Review payroll and accounts payable runs for accuracy and clarity.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and support month-end close processes, including journal entries.
• Generate financial reports requested by funding sources or senior management, ensuring timeliness and precision. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting or non-profit organizations.
• In-depth knowledge of internal accounting operations and fiscal compliance standards.
• Proficiency in auditing procedures, general ledger software, and spreadsheet applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment in complex situations.
• Professionalism and a team-oriented mindset, demonstrating respect for diverse populations.
• Expertise in month-end close processes, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
