As a Senior Accountant your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Collaborate with program leaders to develop and revise budgets that align with funding requirements. • Prepare journal entries and closing entries to maintain accurate financial records. • Generate timely and detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including budget comparisons. • Provide necessary schedules and documentation to support annual audits. • Assist program partners in grant proposal processes by supplying required documents such as certificates of liability and incorporation letters. • Create and submit monthly invoices to funders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Review and manage aged accounts receivable and accounts payable reports by program and funder. • Follow up with funders regarding outstanding invoices to maintain healthy cash flow. • Conduct fiscal orientations for new program partners to ensure compliance with organizational standards. • Support the development of standard operating procedures for the fiscal team and contribute to achieving departmental goals. Requirements The ideal Senior Accountant will have the following: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; additional education or certifications are advantageous. • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within nonprofit organizations. • Proficiency in accounting software such as Netsuite and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel. • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local accounting compliance and reporting standards relevant to nonprofit organizations. • Excellent analytical skills paired with attention to detail and organizational capabilities. • Effective communication and customer service skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, including employees and program leaders. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Proven capability to meet strict accounting and reporting deadlines while maintaining integrity and professionalism.
