Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a mission-driven non-profit organization on a contract basis. This role is based in Denver, Colorado, and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful initiatives through expert financial management. The position focuses on month-end close activities, financial reporting, and grant accounting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and funder requirements. Responsibilities: • Manage and execute month-end close procedures, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for internal management, board meetings, and fundraising activities. • Oversee all aspects of grant accounting, ensuring compliance with funder regulations and proper tracking, reporting, and reconciliation. • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is properly recorded and monitored. • Collaborate with internal teams on budget analysis, providing recommendations to enhance financial performance and sustainability. • Ensure financial compliance with non-profit accounting standards and grant requirements. • Support the organization’s mission by providing timely and actionable financial insights to stakeholders. • Utilize accounting software tools, such as NetSuite, for efficient financial reporting and analysis. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with non-profit experience preferred. • Strong expertise in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and financial reporting. • Proficiency with accounting software, including NetSuite, and advanced Excel skills. • Familiarity with grant compliance regulations and non-profit financial management. • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial activities. • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
