Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a growing nonprofit organization, combining traditional accounting tasks with specialized grant accounting and management responsibilities. The position is flexible, allowing for remote work, though candidates located near Minneapolis are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are properly documented. • Prepare and post journal entries to support ongoing accounting activities. • Perform account and bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy and completeness. • Oversee post-award and post-grant financial activities, ensuring compliance with funding requirements. • Handle federal grant accounting processes and maintain adherence to regulations. • Collaborate with clients on grant management tasks, offering expertise and guidance. • Utilize QuickBooks Online to streamline accounting workflows and financial tracking. • Support audits and reviews by providing detailed financial documentation and reports. • Identify opportunities for process improvements within grant and nonprofit accounting functions. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to nonprofit or grant accounting preferred. • Proficiency in month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation. • Strong skills in account and bank reconciliations. • Experience with post-award and post-grant financial activities, including federal grants. • Familiarity with grant management and compliance requirements. • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and other accounting software. • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.
