Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting critical month-end processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a leading organization in the energy and natural resources industry. Responsibilities: • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure all accounts are properly balanced. • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure compliance with accounting standards. • Conduct account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, to identify and resolve discrepancies. • Support the preparation and analysis of annual inventory reports. • Oversee the calculation and reporting of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). • Utilize SAP to manage and streamline accounting processes. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data integrity and compliance with policies. • Provide insights and recommendations to improve accounting processes and controls. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting with a focus on month-end close and general ledger management. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations. • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and financial reporting. • Hands-on experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. • Familiarity with inventory accounting and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations. • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines. • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
