Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. This is a Contract to permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to transition into a long-term role. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This role will initially require on-site work, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after training is completed. Responsibilities: • Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements for review by senior management, ensuring all supporting schedules and documentation are up to date. • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Manage and reconcile billing, accounts receivable, and agency fee-for-service contracts, including public entity agreements. • Oversee 401K plan administration and coordinate monthly submissions in collaboration with payroll functions. • Conduct physical inventory reviews and maintain an accurate database of fixed assets. • Review and analyze annual write-offs, identifying key trends to inform financial strategies. • Oversee payroll and accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in check runs and ledger entries. • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist with month-end close procedures, including journal entries. • Prepare financial reports and statements for funding sources or as requested by senior leadership. • Participate in staff development activities, team meetings, and agency-required training sessions. Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation and reconciliations. • Proficiency in month-end close processes, including journal entry creation and review. • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and bank reconciliation procedures. • Ability to manage multiple financial tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. • Experience with 401K administration and payroll coordination. • Familiarity with fixed asset management and physical inventory processes. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment. • Proficiency in word processing and financial software tools.
