Description We are looking to add a Senior Accountant to the Honolulu Team of Full-Time Engagement Professionals. Responsibilities: • Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. • Compile and analyze financial data to prepare reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and projections. • Reconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers to ensure financial consistency. • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. • Collaborate with internal teams and external entities, such as government agencies, to clarify and resolve financial matters. • Assist internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and support during audits. • Utilize accounting software and tools to post ledger entries, maintain data, and generate financial reports. • Train new employees and coordinate assignments as needed, supporting the Head Accountant in their absence. • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for management and external agencies. • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and practices. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience of 5-6 years in lieu of a degree. • Minimum of 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience. • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and public utility regulatory rules. • Proficiency in accounting software such as Great Plains, Orcom, and Microsoft Office. • Demonstrated ability to perform month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations. • Skilled in performing accurate computations and balancing accounts. • Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting. • Proficiency in using 10-key calculators and other office equipment effectively.
