Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a contract position where you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and maintaining smooth operations within the accounting department. Responsibilities: • Perform detailed client account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. • Manage cash application processes and oversee the allocation of payments. • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts to maintain accurate financial records. • Assist in addressing and clearing backlogs in accounts receivable and data management. • Review and clean up unstated credits while monitoring general client accounts. • Manually match payments to bank statements to ensure alignment and accuracy. • Support month-end close processes by preparing necessary journal entries. • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all account adjustments are properly recorded. • Utilize SAP to streamline and improve accounting processes. Requirements • Proven experience in month-end close procedures and financial reporting. • Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation. • Expertise in account reconciliation, including bank and credit card accounts. • Proficiency in SAP for accounting and financial management. • Ability to handle account adjustments and resolve discrepancies effectively. • Familiarity with cash application processes and payment tracking. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Prior experience in the retail industry is a plus.
