Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and refine job cost accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting. This role involves managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger functions, and providing detailed cost analyses to support project profitability and strategic decision-making. Based in Santa Barbara, California, this position requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate across departments. Responsibilities: • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and proper collection and allocation of funds. • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accurate recording of all transactions. • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciling job cost and balance sheet accounts. • Prepare and review financial statements with a focus on job costing and project profitability. • Compute, reconcile, and provide provisions for sales tax compliance. • Maintain and refine the job cost accounting system, ensuring accurate tracking and allocation of project costs. • Analyze project costs and variances, providing detailed reports and recommendations to management. • Collaborate closely with project managers to align job costs with budgets and timelines. • Continuously review and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and safeguard financial data. • Generate weekly financial reports to inform leadership of key metrics and insights. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • At least 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on job costing or project accounting. • Proficient in accounting software such as Sage or NetSuite, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, job costing methodologies, and financial analysis. • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and tax regulations. • Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
