Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. This role is ideal for a meticulous individual with expertise in financial reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records and delivering insightful reporting. Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). • Reconcile accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, payables, and other financial transactions, to ensure accuracy. • Conduct detailed reviews of financial data and transactions, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. • Develop and produce financial reports using automated systems, providing insights for decision-making. • Perform month-end close processes, including journal entries and general ledger adjustments. • Utilize advanced spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, to monitor and report financial data. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex accounting issues and develop effective solutions. • Maintain accurate records for commercial property accounting and ensure compliance with industry standards. • Provide exceptional customer service by resolving accounting-related inquiries promptly and professionally. • Apply judgment and interpret administrative policies to support fiscal operations. Requirements • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting practices. • Proficiency in using automated financial systems for report writing and data analysis. • Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, and payables. • Experience in commercial property accounting and financial reporting. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting. • Ability to perform month-end close processes, including journal entries and adjustments. • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, for collaboration and customer service. • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and develop comprehensive reports.
