Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations and reporting for assigned properties. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex accounting processes, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Director of Accounting to maintain accurate financial records and support business objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow models, to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Conduct month-end closing processes, including preparing standard journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Oversee daily income journal activities, including validating deposits, monitoring accounts receivable, and resolving discrepancies.
• Manage vendor aging reports and coordinate with the accounts payable team to ensure timely payments and effective cash flow management.
• Perform year-end workpapers and support external audit processes to meet compliance requirements.
• Prepare and file annual real estate, personal property tax, and business license documentation.
• Perform inventory audits on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• Support the Director of Accounting with special projects, process improvements, and operational initiatives.
• Attend financial meetings to review monthly critiques and provide detailed analysis to operational teams.
• Monitor profitability by analyzing financial reports and identifying areas for cost optimization and budget adherence. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on month-end close and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in managing general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and cash flow management.
• Experience with inventory audits and tax preparation, including sales, use, and real estate taxes.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
• Ability to analyze and streamline accounting processes for improved efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
