Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Sr. Accountant to join our team in San Ramon, California. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to work on a variety of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. The role will involve close collaboration across departments to support business needs and promote a culture of financial accountability.
Responsibilities:
• Support the operations of accounting teams by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of business models, policies, and internal control systems.
• Collaborate effectively with various departments to address business needs, actively contributing to key decisions and fostering teamwork.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities, including developing standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards.
• Prepare and review manual journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, and reserves in alignment with month-end close activities.
• Monitor accounting entries to ensure sub-ledger accounting aligns with expectations, resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Analyze monthly financial results, providing variance and trend explanations along with detailed reports for senior management.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of journal entries and responding to data requests.
• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, ensuring consistency between sub-ledger and general ledger balances.
• Collaborate with international teams to ensure consistent application of accounting policies across the organization.
• Support the annual audit process by providing data, financial analysis, and responding to ad hoc requests. Requirements • Strong experience in month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with Workday or similar financial systems.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, identifying trends, anomalies, and variances.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
• Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions.
