Description
Our client is a high profile leader in the professional sports and entertainment industry currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a newly created role within their finance organization. This role will focus on managing various aspects of the record-to-report process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and revenue-related reporting for the organization and its subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), thrive in a dynamic environment, and consistently seek opportunities for process improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, focusing on revenue streams such as licensing, royalties, sponsorships, and dues.
• Generate and issue monthly sales invoices to licensees and partners, record cash receipts, and monitor collections for reserves or write-offs.
• Enhance contract tracking capabilities by comparing terms against actuals and presenting results to management on a regular basis.
• Lead the annual dues process, including team communications and the collection of member contributions.
• Develop and deliver monthly management reports, including flux analyses and detailed revenue summaries.
• Create and maintain procedural documentation for all assigned tasks and processes.
• Serve as a backup preparer during month-end close activities, including procure-to-pay operations.
• Assist with annual audits by preparing lead sheets, year-end accruals, and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Contribute to budgeting efforts and support special projects, such as system implementations, as needed.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of accounting experience, preferably with a combination of public and corporate accounting.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition practices, particularly licensing royalties, is highly desirable.
• CPA or CPA eligibility is strongly preferred.
• Advanced technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Great Plains, NetSuite, or Oracle is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
