Description Growing Midstream O& G Company is Houston is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Derivatives to join their dynamic accounting team. This is a high-visibility position with regular interaction with the VP of Risk and VP of Trading, offering excellent career development potential. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in Settlements, Inventory, Trading, or Derivative Accounting, either from public accounting or industry. RightAngle experience is a strong plus. Key Responsibilities + Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to derivatives, inventory, hedge accounting, and trading activities. + Support the monthly close process including variance analysis, accruals, and intercompany transactions. + Prepare and present monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior leaders and other departments. + Communicate financial results and insights to management and business partners. + Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP, SOX, IFRS, and FERC regulations. + Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and stronger internal controls. + Train and mentor less experienced team members. + Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit inquiries. + Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and acquisition integrations. Requirements Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 3–5 years of accounting experience in energy trading, inventory, settlements, or derivatives. + Public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-tier) or industry experience in trading or commodities + Strong communication skills and confidence interfacing with senior leadership. + Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + RightAngle experience is a significant plus. + CPA or CPA-eligible is preferred but not required. + Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems.
